NoVa refers to Northern Virginia which is the only part of the state that anyone cares exists.I’ve actually had people from the Richmond area tell me I couldn’t be from Virginia because people from Virginia don’t talk like me.

The Town Obama Forgot is reference to the fact that Obama stopped in Martinsville while campaigning and promised to not forget us if elected.Last Year the New Yorker printed an article written by George Packer on Martinsville,Va.I haven’t been able to find a link to the actual article but I have found an audio slide show narrated by George Packer here

This joke came from the campaign commercials that ran earlier this year.In one of them the incumbent claimed his rival wanted to close the Department of Education because he didn’t understand what purpose it served.It was just too good not to use,and a good way to introduce Hale Bogwind(R)VA.
